Teaching Digitally
Janette Hill and Michael Hannafin's "Teaching and learning in digital environments: The resurgence of resource-based learning" (See Article) sparked my interest with regards to researching technological advances and changes in teaching. The article discusses changes in the world because of digital technology; our resources, information sources, sociological and economic enterprises, and our "contemporary society" (e.g: everyday life and settings) have changed. Digital technology has expanded our reach and access of information, it has given us more variety; in particular with the ways we teach. The article expresses a need to address our teaching tactics in order to promote a digital literacy environment for the future. It would be interesting to explore the changes, challenges and consequences of teaching digitally. |

The Net Generation: Is Digital Literacy Re-shaping 'our' Culture?
The Net Generation is the term used to describe the first group of people growing up in a world immersed in digital technology. I have a number of questions concerning the impact of growing up in such an Internet driven and technological environment, and how these individuals view the importance of such inventions in their everyday lives, and how digital technologies are re-shapeing our culture.

The Digital Divide: Digital Integration to Promote Education
"If the implementation of digital resources can be significantly cost-effective in disadvantaged countries, what are the barriers that continue to exist? Is the rest of the world simply continuing to 'promote' privileged access by their lack of contributions to narrow the "digital divide"?
"Internet and Literacy in the Developing World: Delivering the Teacher with the Text"- Tom Cobb (date?)
I would like to explore the implications of maintaining the digital divide and inhibiting the development of digital literacy. As well, it would be helpful to outline the shape and form of the possible manifestation of the implementation of online resources in underprivileged countries.

The Digital Era and Education: computers in classrooms?
Labbo et al. describe digital literacy as the “enhancement of old skills, [and] development of new skills” (Technology and Literacy Education in the Next Century: Exploring the Connection Between Work and Schooling, 1998). I am interested in learning what kinds of old skills are used in developing new skills, and how these new skills are used by educators in classrooms. Also, I am interested in understanding why educators fear using computers even when they are present in classrooms.

Digital Divide: When digital literacy clashes with politics
The emergence of Internet has vastly revolutionized peoples' lives, from the sociological up to the political aspects (Vidyasagar, D 2006) . My main interest is to better understand the effects of digital literacy on people living in countries where public access to information is conceived differently from the Western culture point of view (Dimitrova, D. V., and Beilock, R, 2005); one such example would be China with the attempt of the authorities to keep access to information controlled, better known as China's Great Firewall. I would specifically like to research the political empowerment digital literacy has on people who did not have previous access to information or the opportunity to raise a voice against the authorities, as well as the other side of the coin, the methods the authorities have been using to control the flow of information in said countries. On such example of methods or institutions that control the information flow such as in Internet stated by Vidyasagar D. is the ICANN (International Corporation for Assigned Names and Natio.

Digital Identities: The Challenges and Results in Establishment
Baier et al. (2003) defines digital identity as “electronic user ‘identification’”, which includes an “extensible set of identity. They investigate the challenges of managing digital identities (“keeping track on user ids and passwords”) which make communication hard, as well as the aspects of digital identities that “enriches communication” and enable “faster, more secure and trusthworthy collaboration.”
